My name is Ashley and I am not a blogger. Although this blog is primarily for myself and for an online course that I’m taking, I do enjoy (over-)sharing my thoughts and giving advice. The purpose of this blog is to share what I have learned about cultural awareness in Spain and hopefully help someone achieve the abilities to be culturally aware or at least learn a bit about Valencia.
I’m an Asian-American born and raised in Northern Virginia with the privilege of being in an affluent area and surrounded by my educated parents and friends. If that introduction didn’t make it obvious enough, I’m also currently a psychology major and sociology minor at the University of Virginia. I love traveling of course (but need to go somewhere besides Europe), reading books that have better writing than the plot, playing violin when I remember to practice, dancing whether it’s in a ballet studio or in my apartment with friends, and going to art museums as often as possible. I’m part of an Asian-interest sorority, a dance company, and take orchestra/private-violin lessons during the school year to stay sane when I’m not studying.
I have no idea what I want to do once I graduate in two (!!!) years. Maybe therapy, maybe marketing, maybe something in a field that hasn’t even been created yet. However, I hope that this blog will sufficiently capture the most exciting month of my college experience so far and will be something for me to look back on wherever I end up in the future.
